The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has disconnected 41 properties from supply in the estate where Yvonne Nelson resides.
The area affected is known as Redrow Development Estate at the East Legon Hills in Accra and Ghana’s power firm says it is due to alleged non-payment of bills and illegal connections.
Although many might feel it is a case of victimising Yvonne Nelson who led thousands of Ghanaians on a peaceful protest recently over epileptic power supply in the West African country, Ghana’s power firm insists the issue has nothing to do with her.
The protest was popularly known as the #DumsorMustStop protest. According to reports, the disconnection exercise of the estate took place on Thursday, May 21, 2015 but a representative of the estate simply identified as Mr. Sampson is believed to have met with ECG Accra’s Loss Control Unit to pay the sum of GH¢8,000 on behalf of residents in the said estate....
