Oba Sijuwade, Ooni of Ife dies at 85

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, has died at the age of 85. Family sources say he died at about 5pm tuesday yesterday after a brief illness. He was reportedly flown to UK in an air ambulance after he became unconscious following his illness were he slumped on thursday

He ascended the throne in December 1980  .He was the fiftieth ruler of Ife, which is referred to as the source of Yoruba .The late Oba is survived by wives and children and grand-children. May his soul rest in peace Amen.
