Pure water now sold for 10 naira now instead of the normal 5 naira...this is the reason

 

The Association of Pure Water Producers of Nigeria in Lagos has elected to increase the price of pure water by over 65 percent as a result of increase in cost of materials for production brought about by difficulties to import critical imputes.

The manufacturers who spoke to InsideMainland blamed the increment on the rising cost of procuring nylon bags as well as purification chemicals. These raw materials were set to have been impacted by scarcity of foreign exchange needed to have them imported into the country.

According to the NOI Polls, Nigerians who now depend on Pure Water as the only source of potable water, increased from 27% of the population in February 2013 to 29% in March 2015.

According to a manufacturer; “The Indians who produce the materials used to sell one ton of nylon for N800,000 but have increased it to over one million Naira because of the cost of importing the raw materials.”

Five and Half bags of pure water which used to sell for N300, now sells for N500 while 11 bags which use to sell for N600, now sells for N1,000.
