An 18-year-old teenager has met his untimely death after he was mistakenly pushed off a bridge by a female friend in Brazil.
A young boy has died after he was mistakenly pushed off a bridge in Brazil by a female friend. The incident took place on a crossing over the river Jamari, in the rural area known as Itapua do Oeste, in western Brazil.
Daniel Faustino Pinto Filho, 18, was standing on the edge of a bridge when a woman jokingly pushed him over the bridge.
He fails his arms into the air and then topples off backwards off the bridge, in the background as the girl shrieks and then the camera is dropped. His body was found 14 hours later by firefighters.
According to some witnesses, the teen did not know how to swim and was drunk fell from the railing. Sued Rocha, the commander of the rescue operation, said that the body was found in the deep part of the river, some metres away from where the boy fell.
The unnamed woman is said to be 21.
The unnamed woman who seemed in the video to have pushed him and other witnesses were taken to a police station in order to be interviewed by authorities.
She said that Daniel had been joking about jumping from the bridge and then she decided to make a joke pretending to push him, but he flinched from her mock-push and fell.
On the other hand, the person who recorded the video told police that the woman who pushed him knew that he was not able to swim and gave the film to police.
Rocha also said that two of the boy’s friends had jumped from the bridge in a failed attempt to rescue the young man.
Witnesses and the woman who is alleged to have pushed Daniel were released after the police interview.
It is not clear whether any charges were brought.
The investigation is ongoing.
