Professor Attahiru Jega’s tenure as
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, came to an end
on Tuesday and he has handed over to Ambassador Ahmed Wali.
Jega, who has indicated his interest
to return to the lecture room at Bayero University Kano (BUK), from where he
was appointed INEC chairman, conducted two general elections in 2011 and 2015
during his five year tenure.
Wali, who will head the electoral body in acting capacity,
was a national commissioner of INEC from the north-west.
